Dispersant overview:

Disperser ant is a kind of interfacial active agent which has both hydrophilic and lipophilic properties. It can evenly disperse the solid and liquid particles of inorganic and organic pigments that are difficult to dissolve in the liquid, at the same time, it can prevent the particles from settling and agglomerating, and form the amphiphilic reagents needed for stabilizing the suspension.

Dispersant action:


The function of dispersant is to use wetting dispersant to reduce the time and energy needed to complete the dispersion process, stabilize the dispersed pigment dispersion, modify the surface properties of pigment particles, and adjust the movement of pigment particles [2]. Specifically reflected in the following aspects:


1. In fact, the most important factor to improve the gloss and increase the leveling effect is the light scattering from the coating surface (i.e. a certain flatness). If the particle size is less than 1 / 2 of the incident light (the value is uncertain), it is necessary to check whether the instrument is flat enough, not only considering the number and shape of the primary particles, but also their combination mode, In the same way, the covering power that depends on scattering to provide the main covering power will not increase (except for carbon black, which mainly depends on absorbing light, organic pigments forget). Note: the incident light refers to the range leveling of visible light is not good; however, it should be noted that the reduction of the original number of particles is to reduce its structural viscosity, but the increase of specific surface will reduce the number of free resins. It is not good to say whether there is a balance point, but the leveling of general powder coating is not the finer the better.

4. Reduce viscosity and increase pigment loading.


5. The way to reduce flocculation is like this, but the finer the particle surface energy is, the higher the dispersant with higher adsorption strength is needed, but the dispersant with too high adsorption strength may cause adverse effects on the film performance.


6. In fact, the reason for increasing storage stability is similar to the above. Once the stability strength of dispersant is not enough, the storage stability will become worse (of course, from your picture, it is no problem).


7. Increase color development, color saturation, transparency (organic pigments) or hiding power (inorganic pigments).


Tego dispers wetting and dispersing agent helps pigment to wet and stabilize, prevents floating color from blooming and pigment settling, maintains stable pigment covering power and color strength during storage, and ensures maximum color yield and minimum grinding steps. Because these additives can reduce the viscosity and increase the concentration of pigment to the maximum when dispersing, the paint and pigment concentrate produced is more cost-effective. Tegodispers 757 W is recommended for the production of aqueous pigment concentrates. It is also the first choice for corrosion-resistant waterborne coatings. Like tegodispers 750W and tegodispers 755w, it can meet the highest optical and rheological performance requirements. Tegodispers 65x series is a market standard product without ethoxyalkylphenol for general color pastes suitable for both solvent based and water-based formulations. Tegodispers 656, 670 and 685 are particularly suitable for modern solvent based formulations. In UV system, tegodispers 685 is suitable for all pigments, and tegodispers 688 is suitable for extinction powder. All tegodispers products do not contain ethoxyalkylphenol.
