1、 The role of dispersants in enhancing color development and color saturation is easily overlooked by many. There is a case study that shows that using different dispersants to disperse the same color paste can result in significant differences in color and saturation. Generally speaking, the higher the dispersion, the higher the saturation (if it is carbon black, the higher the dispersion, the lower the L value, and the higher the blackness).

2、 For aluminum powder paint, the higher the compatibility of the pigment, the higher the transparency or paint adhesion. For pure color paints, it is desirable for the paint adhesion of the color paste to be higher. I think this is related to the particle size of the color paste. Data shows that, in addition to refractive index, the particle size distribution of colorants is another key factor in transparency. The granularity increases, and the ability to scatter light increases until it reaches its highest value, then begins to decrease. The ability of this type of scattered light improves the paint adhesion of the pigment, with the strongest optical scattering ability reaching a larger value. If the particle size is further increased, the paint adhesion will decrease. When the particle size of the color paste is smaller than a certain value, the transparency will increase as the particle size decreases. Dispersants cannot change the characteristics of the color paste itself, but they can manipulate the particle size of the paste to achieve a more ideal color tone effect.
