The effect of crosslinking agents used in textile coatings:

As is well known, ancient people used various coating additives to enhance the functionality of textiles in order to improve their various properties. But with the rapid development of science and technology, various new environmentally friendly coating additives have gradually been developed. For example, environmentally friendly water-based crosslinking agents need to be chemically treated with crosslinking agents during the post-processing of textiles to improve durability. Crosslinking agents act as bridging agents between linear molecules, allowing multiple linear molecules to bond and crosslink into a network or bulk structure. Textiles require certain chemical treatments with crosslinking agents in printing and dyeing processes to improve their processability, wearing comfort, and so on.

The crosslinking agent commonly used in water-based textile coatings is isocyanate crosslinking agent. At present, isocyanates are widely used in water-based textile coatings. Due to their two impurity accumulating double bonds, isocyanates are very active and easily react with other compounds containing active hydrogen. Therefore, this type of crosslinking agent generally exists in the form of trimer with better stability. The main reactive group in isocyanate crosslinking agents is NCO, which reacts with hydroxyl, carbonyl, and amide groups to form multiple urethane bonds. This reaction can be carried out during high-temperature drying or at low temperatures, requiring low construction conditions. It is particularly suitable for the water-based textile coating field of high-speed assembly lines, and is environmentally friendly, formaldehyde free, with better flexibility after crosslinking, no need for high-temperature baking, and excellent performance in various resistance and adhesion.
