The water-based coating system is divided into water-soluble system and latex system.

In water-soluble systems, the surface tension of the system needs to be greatly reduced. The most commonly used are silicone leveling agents and fluorocarbon leveling agents, which play the same role in solvent based coating systems. Of course, if a truly flat surface is needed, water-based acrylic leveling agents are necessary.

For latex systems, the film-forming mechanism is completely different, and viscosity does not change with the evaporation of solvents. The use of leveling agents in formulations can improve the substrate wettability of coatings. Leveling agent acrylic can improve the smoothness of the paint film, but by adding rheological control agents, the mainstream performance of the coating can be better controlled and adjusted.
