The fundamental reason for these defects is the uneven surface tension between the surface and lower layers of the solvent evaporated coating, with the lower layer being lower and the upper layer being higher. In addition, the density of the surface layer is higher than that of the lower layer. The solvent rich coating in the lower layer is pushed towards the surface by surface tension, and gravity causes the surface coating to sink, resulting in vortex motion of sinking, expansion, and rising. The result is a hexagonal grid with irregular edges. It is called the 'Benel' vortex. The new solvent rich coating at the center of the grid has low surface tension, pushing it to the edge and forming small hills here, known as orange peel. This type of exercise can also result in different colors and pigment content. This is the main reason for the uneven distribution of colored paint and matte paint powder, which leads to light leakage and matte hair.

The Marangoni movement is the main source of these deficiencies. As long as the surface tension of the coating film decreases, the lower coating cannot be pushed to the surface and the above-mentioned defects cannot occur. Therefore, adding organic silicon leveling agents that can control the surface state and reduce surface tension is the best method. If organic silicon additives cannot solve the problem, then consider choosing organic fluorine additives. But pay attention to cost and foam stability.
