Water based wood coatings refer to a new type of environmentally friendly wood coating that uses water as a solvent and does not evaporate harmful substances. They are particularly valued in residential buildings, and leveling agents are a good medicine for treating shrinkage problems in water-based wood coatings.

流平剂在涂料颜料中的作用

Shrinkage, fisheye, and sagging are common problems that occur after the application of water-based wood coatings, which have a significant impact on the performance of the coatings. Damaging the weather resistance and waterproofness of the coating; Affects the aesthetics of the coating; Weakening the performance of coatings; Product quality issues such as shrinkage, fisheye, and sagging are caused by product inspection failure.

There are two main reasons for the formation of shrinkage cavities:

1. Uneven dispersion or incompatibility of additives

The more common is defoamer, the stronger the defoaming ability, the poorer the compatibility. It is easy for water-based wood coatings to bubble, and defoamers are widely used, so shrinkage cavities often occur.

2. Improper handling of the construction process

Poor handling of the substrate before construction, residual oil stains, insufficient polishing, or contamination after cleaning can easily cause shrinkage problems.

To eliminate the shrinkage problem of water-based wood coatings, leveling agents must have the following characteristics:

1. Can reduce the surface tension of water

2. High compatibility

3. Excellent anti shrinkage, smoothness, anti adhesion/peeling effect

4. Significant improvement in liquidity and leveling

5. Can be used in water-based systems
