Coupling agents are a dazzling new star in the field of chemical reagents in recent years. They are substances with two different functional groups, one of which can react with organic substances and the other can react with adsorbed water on the surface of inorganic substances, forming a strong bond.

The role of coupling agents in composite materials is that they can react with certain functional groups on the surface of the reinforcing material, as well as with the matrix resin, forming an interface layer between the reinforcing material and the resin matrix. The interface layer can transmit stress, thereby enhancing the bonding strength between the material and the resin, improving the performance of the composite material, and preventing it from penetrating into the interface with other media, improving the interface state, which is beneficial for the aging resistance, stress resistance, and electrical insulation performance of the product. According to the chemical structure and composition of coupling agents, they are divided into four categories: organic chromium complexes, silanes, titanates, and aluminate compounds.

Among them, the titanium ester coupling agents studied in this article are mainly divided into four categories based on their unique molecular structures:

One is the monoalkoxy type.This type of coupling agent is suitable for multi resin based composite material systems, especially for filling systems that do not contain free water, only chemical bonding water and physical water;

The second type is monoalkoxy pyrophosphate ester.This type of coupling agent is suitable for various resin based composite material systems, especially for filler systems with high moisture content;

Thirdly, chelation type.This type of coupling agent is suitable for various resin based composite material systems, as they have excellent water retention capacity? Especially suitable for polymer systems;

Fourthly, coordination type.This type of coupling agent has good coupling effects in various resin based and rubber based composite material systems, overcoming the shortcomings of general titanate coupling agents used in resin based composite material systems.
