The common defoamers in the general chemical market mainly include these four types of lower alcohols, ester defoamers, mineral oil defoamers, organic polar compound defoamers, and organosilicon defoamers. So next, the editor of Jianyi Chemical will give you a detailed introduction to these four defoamers!

1. Low alcohol and ester defoamers

Low alcohol and ester defoamers, including isopropanol, butanol, tributyl phosphate, etc., have gradually faded out due to their toxicity and VOC, as well as their weak defoaming effect and poor foam inhibition.

2. Mineral oil defoamer

In addition to the defoaming effect of mineral oil complexes, mineral oil defoamers also contain some hydrophobic particles, such as stearic acid metal soap and polyurea, which have certain effectiveness. It is quite common in the chemical market.

3. Organic polar compound defoamer

Organic polar compound defoamers mainly refer to surfactants with low HLB values, such as polyether surfactants, polyethylene glycol fatty acid esters, etc. These are also rare in the chemical market due to HLB's relationship.

4. Organic silicon defoamer

Organic silicone defoamers mainly use hydrophobic silicone oil as the active ingredient, combined with other carrier surfactants to achieve good results, but the amount added needs to be considered carefully. It is quite common in the chemical market.
