In water-based metalworking fluids, foam is often produced due to the use of epoxidized emulsifiers and other surfactants. Usually, there are three systems of defoamers added to metalworking fluids:

1. There is an oil system

2. Silicone oil system

3. Organic modified siloxane system

Defoamers for metalworking fluids with oil systems are known for their high compatibility with the corresponding organic particles in the dispersed system. However, due to their high surface tension, the efficiency of these products is only moderate. On the contrary, the surface energy of defoamers used in silicon-based metalworking fluids is very low, resulting in high efficiency, but its disadvantage is incompatibility with organic compounds in polymer dispersions. Defoamers for metal processing fluids based on organic modified siloxanes have special advantages due to their organic structural units. On the one hand, they have much higher compatibility with organic polymers than silicone oils, and on the other hand, their siloxane backbone makes defoaming efficiency very high.

Defoamers are made by compounding special modified polyether and fluorine-containing raw materials through a special process. They are highly soluble in water and are particularly suitable for sustained defoaming and foam suppression under conditions of high temperature, strong acidity and alkalinity, high shear force, and high pressure. Has excellent high temperature resistance, acid and alkali resistance, does not float, and does not float oil; It can be widely used for foam elimination and suppression of various harsh systems in a wide temperature range. It is a defoamer with excellent comprehensive performance, which has been summarized as having the following six major excellent properties


1. Strong defoaming and anti foaming ability, with minimal dosage, does not affect the basic properties of the foaming system.

2. Good diffusion and permeability, fully compatible with oil and cutting fluids.

3. Good heat resistance, chemical stability, no corrosion, non-toxic, no adverse side effects, non flammable, non explosive.

4. It can be used in acids, bases, salts, electrolytes, and hard water.

5. Its performance is comparable to imported products, and its price has a more obvious advantage.

6. Excellent defoaming and anti foaming performance, with a defoaming effect 3-5 times that of similar metal cutting fluid defoaming agents.


Therefore, it can be seen that defoamer is still inseparable from our production and life, and its role in metalworking fluid is very large. It can effectively inhibit the production of foam, reduce the impact of foam on metalworking fluid, and thus increase its aesthetic appearance.
