1、 Leveling agents can be roughly divided into two categories:

One method is to adjust the viscosity and leveling time of the paint film. Most of these leveling agents are high boiling organic solvents or their mixtures, such as isophorone, diacetone alcohol, solvent 150, etc.

Another way is to adjust the surface properties of the paint film to play a role. Generally speaking, leveling agents mostly refer to this type of leveling agent. This leveling agent migrates to the surface of the paint film through limited compatibility, affecting surface properties such as interfacial tension of the paint film, resulting in good leveling of the paint film. According to different chemical structures, there are three main types of leveling agents: acrylic acid, organosilicon, and fluorocarbon.

2、 Selection guide for leveling agents:

From the perspective of performance, organic silicon leveling agents can mainly provide the following eight aspects of performance: leveling, leveling speed, wetting, recoating, compatibility, smoothness, low-temperature foaming, anti shrinkage and anti adhesion. And these properties are often closely related to the chemical structure of organic silicon leveling agents, among which the two important indicators are silicon content and molecular weight. In a sense, choosing the appropriate silicone leveling agent is choosing the appropriate silicone compound with the appropriate silicon content and molecular weight. When choosing a leveling agent, you can choose according to your own formula based on the specific performance requirements of the leveling agent. While optimizing the required performance, attention should be paid to avoiding some common side effects to achieve balance.
