Explorer of innovative chemical new materials for industrial application

The origin of thickening agents

In recent years, with the development of China's organic silicon industry and the promotion of application technology, significant progress has been made in the research, production, and application of additive liquid silicone rubber. The adhesion of additive formed liquid silicone rubber is poor. When used as a material for potting, coating, and injection molding of inserts, in order to improve the adhesion with the contact substrate, it is usually necessary to add a thickening agent in advance.

Due to the diversity of contact substrates and the increasing demand for adhesion, the development of new varieties of adhesive additive liquid silicone rubber has always been a research hotspot in this field.

The tackifiers used for adding liquid silicone rubber are mostly silane or siloxane oligomers containing alkoxyl, hydrosilyl, and reactive organic groups. During the vulcanization process, adhesion is achieved through coupling between sulfides and substrates. The requirement for the thickening agent is that it should be compatible with the main components of the added liquid silicone rubber and not affect the vulcanization performance and various physical, mechanical, and electrical properties of the added silicone rubber after vulcanization. At present, there is no universal tackifier to deal with all substrates; The effect of the thickening agent is also related to the formula of the added liquid silicone rubber, such as the ratio of Si to SiCH=CH2 and the filler system.
