What is water-based release agent?

Water based release agent is a type of release agent whose internal components can completely dissolve in water. Emulsions of compounds such as dimethyl silicone oil are commonly used in industry, and emulsions are water-soluble, which can provide good heat resistance, easy cleaning, good corrosion and fire resistance, and have low environmental pollution. They are relatively safe during transportation and storage.

Water based release agent is a functional substance that lies between the mold and the finished product. Release agents have chemical resistance and are not dissolved when in contact with the chemical components of different resins, especially styrene and amines. Release agents also have heat resistance and stress resistance, and are not easily decomposed or worn; The release agent adheres to the mold without transferring to the processed parts, and does not hinder painting or other secondary processing operations.

The specific working principle of release agent is as follows:

1. Polar chemical bonds interact with the surface of the mold to form a regenerable adsorption film.

2. The silicon oxygen bond in polysiloxane can be regarded as a weak dipole (Si+- O -), and when the release agent spreads in a single orientation on the mold surface, the molecule adopts a unique extended chain configuration.

3. The free surface is covered by alkyl groups in a densely packed manner, and the demolding ability increases with the density of alkyl groups; But when the alkyl group occupies a large steric hindrance, the stretching configuration is limited, and the demolding ability will decrease.

4. The molecular weight and viscosity of the release agent are also related to its demolding ability. When the molecular weight is small, it has good spreading ability but poor heat resistance.

The use of water-based release agents is designed for unique molding processes, and it is an auxiliary agent used in the production of rubber and plastic products. The key products include rubber, composite materials, polyurethane, plastic, and other molded products from the beginning to the end. In the process of developing release agents, factors such as formula type, processing temperature, mechanical application, processing cycle time, product style, and mold design are all studied.

The key function of water-based release agents is to create an even release film on the surface of the mold, allowing the molded product to be released.

The second function is to study the surface properties and styles of molded products, the accumulation of dirt on the mold, the feasibility of washing and applying makeup. Other factors to be studied include: the shelf life of the product, the stability of the product, concerns about the health or safety of the user (and manufacturer), and erosion issues.

Each release agent is adjusted from start to finish to provide the required performance within the variable boundaries of the molding process. Due to the inclusion of multiple factors, the intermediate properties of the mold release agent achieve an average performance that meets the requirements of the industry.
