Evonik (formerly Degussa AG) PTMO, organic silane coupling agent Dynasylan PTMO, propyl trimethoxysilane Overview:

Dynasylan ® PTMO propyl trimethoxysilane (Also known as:Silane coupling agent PTMO,Adhesive PTMO)Developed and produced by Evonik Degussa AG, it is an alkyl trialkoxysilane that is an important component of the Sol Gel system. Dynasylan ® PTMO propyltrimethoxysilane is a colorless, low viscosity liquid. Due to the hydrolysis ability of all trialkoxy groups, Dynasylan ®  PTMO propyl trimethoxysilane is considered a tri functional group substance. Additionally, due to Dynasylan ®  PTMO propyltrimethoxysilane contains a propylene gene, which gives it an organic affinity. The silanol groups generated by hydrolysis will form very stable silicon oxygen bonds (- Si-O-Si -) in subsequent condensation reactions. Once a considerable number of silanol groups are formed in the hydrolysis reaction, condensation will occur. The completeness and reaction rate of hydrolysis and condensation reactions depend on several factors. The most important factors include pH, concentration, solvent, temperature, and catalyst.

Evonik (formerly Degussa AG) PTMO, organic silane coupling agent Dynasylan PTMO, characteristics and usage of propyltrimethoxysilane:

Dynasylan ® PTMO propyl trimethoxysilane is an important starting material in Sol Gel reactions. Due to the presence of propyl, it has some organic properties in the siloxane network structure. In order to control the inorganic properties in inorganic networks, Dynasylan PTMO is often used in conjunction with Dynasylan ®  PTMO propyl trimethoxysilane is used together with DYNASIL ® A. In some Sol Gel system applications, Dynasylan ® PTMO propyltrimethoxysilane can be hydrolyzed into a precursor, which can then be hardened by temperature. These precursors are often mixed with some organosilanes such as Dynasylan ® GLYMO)、 Silicates (such as DYNASIL) ® A) Or some silicates can be used together. This pre product can be added as a modifier to organic resins or inorganic nanomaterials (such as AEROSIL) ®) In the middle. Organic inorganic networks can also be formed by adding organic functional groups such as silane (amino functional groups) to organic resins and polymers. The scratch resistant coatings produced by this method have better UV stability than traditional organic coatings. This method can also be used to produce flame retardant materials with better performance than traditional resins.

Dynasylan ® PTMO propyl trimethoxysilane reaction:

Reaction ratio of Dynasylan ® PTMO propyl trimethoxysilane with water ®  PTMO propyl trimethoxysilane is fast. However, it is still recommended to add catalysts during hydrolysis. (such as mineral acids or ammonia water, even acetic acid or amines). Hydrolysis reactions can also occur in organic solvents such as ethanol.
