Silicone additive

Silicone additives are additives used to improve the properties or processing characteristics of silicone materials. They can significantly affect the physical, chemical, and processing properties of silicone. The following is a detailed classification and introduction of silicone additives:

1. Vulcanizing agent

  • definitionA substance that can cause cross-linking reactions in silicone molecular chains, forming a three-dimensional network structure of linear molecules, reducing plasticity, and increasing the strength of elastic agents.

  • typeIncluding platinum rolling vulcanizing agent, platinum molding vulcanizing agent, medium temperature powder vulcanizing agent, ordinary vulcanizing agent, odorless anti yellowing vulcanizing agent, halogen-free bis (2,4) disulfide vulcanizing agent, liquid bis (2,5) disulfide vulcanizing agent, etc.

  • applicationHot air vulcanization applied to rolled products, compatible with both gas and precipitation adhesives; Used for injection molding of insulators; Used for food grade products, high purity, easily volatile; Used for buttons, sealing rings, rubber rollers, and other miscellaneous products; Used for hot air vulcanization and halogen-free of wires, cables, etc; Used for vulcanization of ordinary industrial products and EPDM rubber.

2. Foam silicone additive

  • effectPromote the formation and stability of bubbles during the silicone foaming process, improve foaming efficiency, and enhance the physical and chemical properties of foaming materials.

  • type

    • Foaming agent: used to generate bubbles, causing the volume of silicone material to expand and form a foamed structure.

    • Catalyst: accelerates the foaming reaction.

    • Stabilizer: Used to maintain the stability of bubbles and prevent them from merging or bursting.

    • Crosslinking agent: promotes cross-linking reactions between silicone molecular chains, enhances the mechanical strength and heat resistance of foam materials.

    • Filler: Increase the filling amount of silicone foam products, reduce costs, and improve or endow specific properties to the products.

    • Coloring agent: provides the required color for foaming silicone gel.

3. Heat resistant agent

  • effectAdding heat-resistant and high-temperature additives to silicone rubber materials can effectively prevent oxidation crosslinking of side chains and cyclization depolymerization of the main chain, significantly improving the high-temperature resistance of silicone rubber.

  • ExampleBlue Star Silicone Rubber Special Heat Resistant Agent AD703 can improve the heat resistance of silicone products, usually increasing the high temperature resistance of ordinary silicone by 50 ℃~80 ℃.

4. Release agent

  • effectBy utilizing the hydrophobicity of polydimethylsiloxane and the interfacial activity of surfactants, a thin and uniform molecular film is formed to cover between the mold and silicone rubber, allowing the silicone rubber to easily detach from the mold.

  • typeIncluding water-based release agents, oil-based release agents, and aerosol release agents.

5. Color paste/color paste

  • effectChange the color of silicone material by adding silicone paste/paste to the silicone raw material.

  • typeThere are six commonly used colorants, including (white) titanium dioxide, (red) iron oxide, (blue) ultramarine, (yellow) cadmium yellow, (green) chromium green, and (black) carbon black.

6. Other additives

  • It also includes antioxidants, flame retardants, UV resistant agents, etc., used to improve the aging resistance, safety, and weather resistance of silicone gel.

When using silicone additives, it is necessary to select the appropriate type and amount of additives based on specific application requirements and product performance standards to ensure the quality of the final product.
