Explorer of innovative chemical new materials for industrial application

Chemours employees hold one-day volunteer activities around the world to celebrate Corporate Responsibility Day

CEO Vergnano serves as the initiator of the Corporate Responsibility Commitment Program.


Wilmington, Delaware, December 5, 2019/PRNewswire/-- Chemours (NYSE: CC) is a multinational chemical company that leads the market in fluorine products, titanium dioxide technology, and chemical solutions. Today, company employees are carrying out various service projects and activities around the world to celebrate International Volunteer Day and launch the first Corporate Responsibility Commitment Day event.

Volunteer activities are directly related to the company's broader corporate responsibility commitment plan and its 10 ambitious goals (covering humanity, the planet, and a more sustainable product portfolio). By 2030, Chemours Corporation will invest  million in the communities where it operates for safety, sustainability, and education programs, and most of today's events are aimed at this goal.

 

Today, hundreds of Chemours employees conducted over 55 volunteer activities in 21 locations across 11 countries worldwide, with a total service time of nearly 700 hours. Some activities include:

 

Our employees are assembling 2000 reading and writing tools for four local elementary schools in Wilmington, Delaware, where Chemours's global headquarters is located, and adding supplies that can inspire students' interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In other areas of Wilmington, some employees read Sasha Loves to Code to students at Carrie Downey Elementary School, some conducted interactive STEM sessions at Urban Promise High School, and some held sustainability workshops at Kirk High School.


In Fayetteville, North Carolina, Chemours employees are picking up garbage by the nearby highway and holding toy donations and cake auctions at the factory to help local families in need.


In Asturias, Spain, Chemours employees are hosting an event with Mar de Niebla, a non-profit organization that teaches work and interview skills to adults with intellectual disabilities. In this activity, Chemours staff will observe and provide useful guidance during the training of interview skills for local adults.


In Altamira, Mexico, Chemours employees helped paint the playground of Escuela Despertar del Campesino Elementary School. This elementary school is less than two kilometers away from Chemours's titanium dioxide factory in Altamira.


In Tokyo, Japan, Chemours employees are holding an old book sales event and will donate the proceeds to the Red Cross Society, The Nippon Foundation, and the Cabinet Office Foundation for Impoverished Children.
In addition, Chemours announced that President and CEO Mark Vergnano will serve as the executive initiator of the CRC program.
