Fine chemical catalyst

Chemical products can be divided into two categories, namely basic chemical products and fine chemical products. Fine chemical products originally referred to products made through deep processing. In the 1970s, some new definitions were proposed, one of which was widely recognized as: small batches, high-purity, and high value-added chemicals that can enhance or endow a product with specific functions, or have specific functions themselves, are called fine chemicals, sometimes also known as specialty chemicals. Therefore, fine chemicals are mostly organic compounds with multifunctional groups and complex structures containing heteroatoms [O, S, N, P, X (halogens)]. Catalysts play an important role in these reactions.

Since the 1990s, due to the increasing scarcity of available resources such as oil, the natural environment has deteriorated. Reasonable utilization of resources and prevention of environmental pollution have become important issues that urgently need to be addressed. Therefore, green chemistry and green chemical industry have rapidly emerged.

Many production processes have high energy consumption, resource consumption, serious environmental pollution, and high costs of waste treatment, which do not meet the requirements of green chemistry. Therefore, seeking and developing new and green catalysts will effectively promote the development of fine chemical industry in China.
