There are various types of polyurethane catalyst elastomers. If classified by oligomeric polyol raw materials, polyurethane elastomers can be divided into polyester type, polyether type, polyolefin type, polycarbonate type, etc. Among the polyether types, they can be further divided into polytetrafluoroethylene type, polyoxypropylene type, etc. according to specific varieties.

According to the different diisocyanates used, they can be divided into aliphatic and aromatic elastomers, which are further subdivided into TDI type, MDI type, IPDI type, NDI type, and other types. Conventional polyurethane elastomers are mainly composed of polyester, polyether, TDI, and MDI types. There are mainly two types of chain extenders: diols and diamines. Strictly speaking, the polyurethane elastomer obtained by chain extension of diamine is a polyurethane urea elastomer.

Traditionally, polyurethane catalyst elastomers are divided into three categories based on manufacturing processes: casting type, thermoplastic type, and mixing type, all of which can be synthesized using pre polymerization and one-step methods. However, the output of some products prepared by innovative processes has exceeded that of certain traditional types, such as the production of solid and microporous polyurethane elastomers by reaction injection molding (RIM) process, which has become an important category. In addition, there are also solution coating and solution casting molding, which are important types of elastic polyurethane mainly used in the production of synthetic leather. Spray forming is also a rapidly developing new technology both domestically and internationally in the past decade.
